Interesting Fact:
To simplify the complex pattern of the stripes of the real tiger, and yet to get the animal instantly recognisable, the Chinese way is to draw the character 王 (“Wang”, meaning “King”) on the front.
This is a tribute to the status of the noble animal and its ability to rule over the three levels of the univers : the Sky, the Humanity, the Earth, each represented by an horizontal stroke, united by a vertical one.
As the Chinese kids learn it: draw a simple cat’s head with a 王 on the front, and you get a tiger!
